The Heartbeat of a Great Nation Become Greatly Foolish

Introduction

 

Thus Satan, a fool, speaks, expediently, through the lips of another seated in the highest court in the land:

 

“At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life.”

 

This sermon is focused on analyzing the above quote from a Christian perspective. In the following when we refer to “God” we are referring to the one and only God, Jehovah God, the great I AM.

 

On Liberty

 

I

It is terribly wrong this humanist babble here quoted, humanist babble with an existential twist. It is entirely in keeping with errant national interests, this babble, interests that no longer value God—thus are they errant. It is entirely in keeping with a nation consequentially fallen, a nation that no longer loves God and is ashamed even to speak His Name (thus it cannot do otherwise but babble). At the heart of liberty dearest justice-author is this:

 

it is to walk in God’s precepts, made lucid by the Word of God (Psalms 119:45, John 8:31-32).

 

Our Founding Fathers understood that Walk and drafted a Declaration of Independence and Constitution thereupon. A nation tightly tethered to God at its inception, but gradually fallen, and now in fallenness-freefall:

 

arrogant, corrupt, deceitful, immoral, bloodthirsty, without, sorely lacking, Precept.

 

Over against Liberty stands Slavery and Bondage. Sin is slavery and bondage (Proverbs 5:22, John 8:33-34). Sin walks not in God’s precepts, it devises its own precepts, precepts that constrain not its peculiar sense of liberty. This nation is in bondage, a slave to its arrogance, corruption, deceitfulness, immorality, and bloodletting—in short, it is in bondage to its Godlessness, a Godlessness licensed, and worse, at all levels of its government. A Godlessness that folds back on it with multifarious Hurt.

 

 

On Rights

 

In general, rights stop at the red line of God’s precepts (laws, rules, teachings). Humankind of itself has no rights besides those that are granted by God. It is error to think that being human somehow means to have automatic rights concerning this and that, to think that one is endowed with certain rights by default. Nay, being human is to be automatically sinful and utterly wicked by default, sinful and wicked by God’s standards, (Job 15:15-16, Jeremiah 17:9), where it is understood, actually it is axiomatic that God’s standards are Righteous, perfectly righteous, and thus singularly Fiducial in this context, and so there is certainly nothing about humanness that warrants any sort of “rights” whatsoever just on the logic, let alone that only God grants rights in the first place, precisely in keeping with His sovereignty, and then in keeping with His righteous standards and long term goal for humankind, which is precisely Christ-likeness. And not least He removes (our) rights whenever and however it seems appropriate and necessary to Him. (These actions are His incontestable right as Sovereign.) Now self-concocted rights as licensed by this nation’s jurisprudence per the quote above bespeak anarchy, do they not? It will be shown going forward that the justice-author seated in the highest court in the land cozies up to the same error throughout as we consider his quote—he refuses a Standard, indeed, the God behind that Standard, and thus babbles flat out Relativism, foolishness actually, and weaves it into the fabric of the national jurisprudence that then guides the other branches of our Godless government. That Godless government has for many decades quite sealed the doom of this once great nation very sad to say. It is the reward of arrogance and foolishness (Psalms 10:4, 14:1).

 

On Concepts

 

Next the author beckons us to make a splash in the deep waters of existence, meaning, the universe, and human life. It is no more than a splash here beckoned, a splash, not a deep dive; a splash, you know, conceptualizations. O my, do not these deep waters offer more than a splash? But of course, without God, it cannot be more than a splash; it is a mere splash to the Godless. And thus, the author forces his own spiritually fostered cognitive limitations on us by positing these deeper things as humanly concocted concepts, quite fluid, one concoction no better or worse than the next. You see, dearest reader, there is no Standard in this camp, everything is relative in the camp as well as their thoughts concerning matters outside the camp. Relative for sure, because so it is without a Standard—relative—without God behind these deeper things. Poor fella’, these deeper things will never be more than a concept to him and his type, and we can be sure that he is certain “that’s just the way it is,” i.e., existence, meaning, the universe, human life, mere concepts, fluid. Open for eternal scholarly debating with the hope of maybe nailing it all down one fine day out yonder in the future. (These folks just love “time,” it fixes everything for them.) See here please, that is not “the way it is,” for we Christians have in fact taken that deep dive, deep dives, daily deep dives, in prayerful study of the Word of God wherein these deeper things come together as God’s Reality, which is of itself, which is by default, quintessential reality, which in turn is Truth (yea, and the Truth sets us free by the way, as in consummate liberty—so says the Master, even Jesus). And over against Concepts, stands this Reality, beckoning (“A Letter of Invitation“).

 

The author is a secularly trained lawyer, and there is no truth to be found in that training, and he is committed and bought into a system that slaps him on the back and rewards him for his commitments, not just in academia, but professionally as well. And that combination, Godless secular academia, and Godless government professionally in this instance, it knows not truth, just the opposite: the training, and shoe leather, is chock full of deceit and underhandedness. It is a wicked and hypocritical duo, deceitful, self-aggrandizing, and self-promoting, making a mockery out of truth, and from that seedbed of Godlessness, of wickedness in our justice system if it can still be referred to as such these days, comes binding rulings on such deep things as, well, existence, and meaning, and human life. Really? Rulings that are forced upon the citizenry as they propagate through the other branches of our government. It is a fallen system overall that accordingly has well-nigh run its predetermined course and is doomed for more painful failures (“Revelation Chapter Eighteen Commentary”). The handwriting is already on the wall domestically, economically, and geopolitically, and is not too hard to read. How does it read? What does it say? It says: “…THEOS OU MUKTHRIZETAI…” — “…God is not mocked…” (for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap, Galatians 6:7-8). But how exactly manifests this doom and pain? Let us remember, it was God who granted our rights back when this nation was founded on Godly principles, with unbelievable blessings to boot, and it is He that will remove them from our grasp maybe sooner than later if the Godlessness-driven freefall in wickedness in this fallen nation continues apace. America’s drowning-millstone is not domestic, it is not economic, nor is it geopolitical, it is decidedly spiritual. If, by God’s grace, She can fix that, if She turns from Her Godlessness, from the top down, the rest will fall in line and there will be healing and maybe She will be healthy enough to survive the storms surely headed Her way whether She turns or not. It is our prayer that She turns and lives. So much for concepts…

 

 

 

 

On Existence

 

Over against Existence stands Being. Existence is in flux, is adaptation, is ultimately terminal. Being is static, is essence, is eternal. Existence trifles with authenticity, authentic living—one may or may not live authentically, it matters not to Existence, it is merely one’s own (rightful, so the author) concept of existence at play. Being knows no such struggle, for Being is perfectly authentic, and it follows that Being lives authentically (recognizes and faces its mortality, acknowledges its depravity, its need for a Savior). Each of us is a being, but not each of us is in harmony with our Being, but rather, with our Existence—that would seem to be the norm. Being, personal Being, is discovered by way of sacred discovery, from the “outside in,” not from the “inside out,” because the latter cheats. Say again, each of us is a being, but not each of us is in harmony with our Being, but rather, with our Existence—for lack of sacred discovery. For as God revealed His Being to each of us through Jesus Christ (John 10:30, 14:9, 17:1-6), so Jesus, through His Spirit and His Word, reveals to us our Being, which is not least that for which He created us. Consider our author, he gives primacy to Existence, and other such relative things, and from these utterances we may conclude that Being eludes him, well of course: he defers not to the I AM, of course (Exodus 3:14-15).

 

On Meaning

 

For starters, it should be intuitively obvious that any meaning concerning God must be revealed by God, that cannot be a human enterprise. God reveals who He is, He reveals His Laws, His Works, His Character, in short, His Name. And any right study of God, that is, theology, must be based on that revelation. We Christians hold that we have been shown mercy and have been graced to know that Revelation of God, it is precisely in Jesus Christ. With that understanding we engage the topic of “meaning.”

 

Over against meaning stands appearance. Meaning, like Being, is Essence. It may be misrepresented through misexpression via language and symbols, but that does not alter meaning, because meaning is fundamental and primitive, it is Essence in that sense. Similarly, cognition, a sweeping term, may misapprehend meaning, but that does not alter meaning for the same reasons given.

 

Equality is distinct from meaning, yet it is a window to meaning. One plus one equals two, both mean “more than one,” yet the respective essences are different. “One plus one” has arithmetic meaning, “two” has numerical meaning, context determines the absolute meaning. The author says that everyone has the right to define their own concept of meaning—safer, is it not, to say that everyone has the responsibility to discern attendant contexts? (As a Christian we would do this prayerfully.) What does murder mean to the author? Protecting the lives of its innocent citizens is the highest responsibility of government—surely no one (let alone everyone) has the right to define their own concept of the meaning of murder. But could context impart meaning here? Certainly (Exodus 21:12-14 and premeditation | accidental; capital punishment is required by God in some instances as we read here). Clearly the author says that everyone has the right to define their own concept of meaning because he is a relativist lacking a Standard, not an absolutist in obeisance to the Standard, even Jehovah God.

 

Everything in the universe, i.e., in the Created Order, has a precise meaning in its context. In this way our universe consists in the aggregate of contextual absolutes. (That everything in the universe has precise meaning is not a function of causality—we live in a causal universe [there is a Prime Mover, even God] but causality does not determine or alter meaning.)

 

This universe of contextual absolutes, themselves given meaning by way of a Fall, is a very hard place to live, in which to live authentically; one can engage it in one of two ways, as an escapist-relativist, or as a realist-absolutist. The former is a siren call satanic trap, full of tantalizing but phony “meaning” that requires not much thought, that ends harder yet for the sucker, in Death, the latter is Jehovah’s penetrating Truth, that dresses the wounds of God’s Brave amid the Hurt in the hard places, their deep hurt, that balms their soul, that ends in precious Life, sweet Life, eternal Life. Broad is the gate and wide is the way of the well-traveled former, strait is the gate and narrow is the way of the sparsely traveled latter indeed, precious few “find” it.

 

On the Universe

 

We should first address a philosophical notion that has found new life in the fertile ground of the secular sciences these days, that of the so-called Multiverse (an ancient idea), which is in recent times a product of String Theory. Aside, the motivating impetus of String Theory is to harmonize quantum mechanics and general relativity by way of some clever vibrating string ideas, in this way circumventing the old point-centric cosmology computations that rely heavily on differential calculus, which calculus gets heavily bogged down when encountering nonlinearities, which are all over the place so to speak in the study of nature. But we doubt that these vibrating string ideas (= sundry energy modes basically) are going to get too much further around these old problems without great pain and failures and “band-aiding” the stuff that blows up because of these nonlinearities (one would much rather prefer discrete computation and networks here). Anyway, we consider this Multiverse patch-up to be one of the most egregious satanic ploys that fool has cooked up and has going in this age of scientific buffoonery, buffoonery guided by overweening arrogance (as in the self-deification complex; not to deny that there is some very good science, and good scientists out there). It goes by different names, but bottom line, the consistent idea is that it is a massive matrix of “parallel universes,” or “multiple universes,” some 10^500 of them. That’s right, the numeral one followed by five-hundred zeroes (compare 10^3=1000 to get sort of a feel for how ridiculously huge 10^500 is—and we aren’t talking about 10^500 reasonably-sized geometric objects here, or even planets and whatnot, these are supposed be universes—imagine). So, it is a massive matrix of universes that supposedly in the aggregate comprises consummate reality—it supposedly encompasses “Everything,” all things tangible, intangible—space, time, matter, rules, information. Everything. But of course, God’s Reality is consummate reality, even Truth—this is axiomatic and needs no proof; clearly, either the Multiverse is consummate Reality, or God is, they both cannot be, unless the Multiverse claims to be God, which we shall dismiss as ludicrous. It follows that this Multiverse premise is false on theological grounds. It has other credibility problems, for example, it is unscientific on impossible falsifiability and testability grounds. In recent times the notion revived around questions surrounding the fine-tuning of the (one and only) universe, even ours—you know, the one we live in and can appreciate, the one Jehovah created. Here’s the crux of the wider story. Jehovah God the Creator so amazingly tuned the parameters that govern the conditions for life to be possible/exist on our earth, and by extension in our observable universe, that one has to either be willfully stupid, or blind as the proverbial bat, and thus miss it for what it is, namely, hands-on tuning (= teleology= purpose= Creator= Jehovah—oops, that is not going to go over well with the materialists and secularists in academia, government, and industry), or, one may not miss it at all, and rather dismiss it, by way of an alternative explanation, like this bogus Multiverse game Satan’s cronies are playing in academia and in the national labs the citizenry funds. More precisely, what we see here is a secularly devised Anthropic Principle, in its life emergence arbitration role, leading to a Multiverse explanation of the amazingly fine-tuned parameters consistent with life that we observe. As it became evident that some thirty of our universes’ critical life-conditions parameters were hands-down hyper-finely tuned perfectly for life, what does the reader suppose happened? A (Creation) crisis arose, and straightaway this quantum mechanically motivated, in the dress of superposition, Anthropic Principle-Multiverse emerged—that title is perfect for what is to come by the way. (ANTHROPOS is Greek for “man,” here utilized because, as the story goes, man’s consciousness clued him in that he was in a special environment consistent with Life in the first place; it has come to mean not just man or his appearance on the stage of life, but life per se.) It is a life-arbitration sort of thing that puts the science god to work to arbiter on life emergence possibility sequences from a starting base/point of nothingness. Anything in nature, from fundamental forces to natural constants, the laws of nature per se, or anything that has a bearing on life, either the possibility for life, or its sustenance and very existence, is utilized in one way or another by this principle. Like a giant secular sciences jigsaw puzzle coming together, it arbiters, it filters if you will, the puzzle’s pieces, and, the dynamics of their coming together just right, according to what may or may not have happened in some given number of steps prior, in the past basically, as touching the scientifically logical appearance of life on our planet (already a problem when one starts from nothing), the only place where we know that life exists by the way. And God got filtered out; anything and just about everything else, is allowed. The whole package sort of works as follows (please make sure your seatbelt is fastened with oxygen mask handy, we will be flying into some nasty turbulence; moreover, you will notice shortly that we will need our learned friend Bubba at the controls to help us simplify some of the technical jargon—Bubba is really good at that). We said earlier that in the aggregate our universe consists of contextual absolutes, in support of that, we note that an object is influenced directly only by its immediate surroundings, this is known as the principle of locality (we are referring to the physics version). Over against the principle of locality stands the principle of non-locality, or “action at a distance,” which has been debunked (as concerns natural cause and effect phenomena; God, on the other hand, acts at a distance all the time, just to be clear here; it is not a trivial point either, because that is the salient difference between how humankind is constrained to act and think, and how God acts and thinks, and there are bound to be huge misunderstandings therefore on the human side if one cannot appreciate that difference). The fundamental dynamic by which the Multiverse operates and achieves its goal exploits this mundane principle of locality. Okay, Bubba, please take over.

That be right, it all bin comin’ together and then bingo bingo bingo all ofa suddenness we git us the stuff fer intelligint livin’ perticular to this here otherwise meeninless part of the Mul-Tea-Thirst that we folk be callin’ home. The ridiculous deserves the ridiculous, amen. To sum up, it is a numbers game they play—the more universes and attendant peculiar physical laws in the pot, the more likely that one of them and a golden set of parameters under the influences of its neighbors will emerge just right for intelligent life to___. Can the reader fill in the blank? The correct card-carrying secularist answer is: Evolve. In other words, they (the intelligentsia behind the model) need more big numbers on the other end of the game as well. They need big numbers fore (myriad universes | selection) and aft (evolution). Why? Because the constants of nature and parameter values that are so finely tuned for life to exist, like the mass of the electron, or the electron transition energy levels of particularly carbon and oxygen, the gravitational constant, the precise divisions of the electromagnetic spectrum, etc., such as these simply cannot be different from what they are by more than staggeringly small amounts not only for the possibility of life, but to sustain life. So, to mathematically offset staggeringly small “windows for life” here, staggeringly large numbers are needed to make the computations work out. Myriad universes on the front end distilling down their physical laws by way of myriad interactions until this universe with its perfectly tuned parameters for life showed up, and then they need billions and billions of their beloved evolutionary years on the back end in order to, in keeping with their evolutionary ideas, bring life up out of the stellar dust, unto some sort of slime, and lo and behold, from there unto refined cultures, convenient living, space exploration, sophisticated surgery, and whatnot, and that is how they play the God-denial game today. It will be a different game tomorrow, and on it goes like that, head games, a little more cerebral with each generation of Godless “geniuses” whilst Jesus tarries. Beyond serious theological grounds as mentioned, and falsifiability and testability issues, it must not be overlooked that we “got something from nothing” here again, just as in Big Bang cosmology per se. By the way, they circumvent their Anthropic Principle falsifiability and testability problems by shifting them from the domain of “principle,” to “methodology,” where the latter is, and will always be, integral to science, thus securing their fancies as “science.”

 

The recipe we call quantum mechanics/QM is literally a scientific and mathematical cookbook chock full of recipes that must be followed to the tee; we fully grant that QM is an elegant computation/s, and quite a human achievement that spans centuries of acquired knowledge and dedicated learning, and has led to some great discoveries (God is not credited for that either by the way by the card-carrying secularists), but it has also just absolutely led some folks off the deep end for sure. It is in the interpretation of the results that QM is giving the practitioners wherein lies this falling off the deep end, the mechanics itself is a thing of beauty; not being rooted in God, they cannot read the results they get aright more often than not, and then they try to crowbar and muscle the experimental results to line up with the theoretical hypotheses, which to the very last one must not involve our blessed Creator. Case in point, the Multiverse—one cannot even recognize the above story concerning it as science anymore. How can that nonsense be more viable than a Creator God hypothesis, especially given Jesus’ ministry? You see, dearest reader, some people would rather go down in history as fools, fools like Satan their daddy, than believe in a Creator. The reader may now unbuckle their seatbelt and relax, with God’s help we will try to ensure a smooth ride going forward, most of the turbulence is behind us.

At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of…the universe. Maybe, per this caveat, at the heart of liberty is the need to walk in God’s precepts (principles, teachings, laws), as said above in the Liberty section. With that qualifier on “liberty,” it calls into question the words, “…the right to define…”. Agreed, no problem, go ahead and define to your (generic) heart’s content, but only insofar as your definitions cohere with God’s precepts. If not, for example, a Multiverse definition of our universe which arose in no small part to counter biblical Creation, and went to absurd lengths to do so, underwritten by government funding no less, well, then you have no right/s. To be clear, rights stop at the red line of God’s precepts. Here we lean on (1) the incontestable right of the Sovereign per se, and (2) the fact that this nation, which the supreme court serves, was founded on that very Sovereign’s precepts. To deny those precepts as a counterargument here is open apostasy, and not least a redefinition of our founding fathers’ intentions for the Unites States to be a God-fearing nation, captured well by none other than these intimately national words on every citizen’s heart: ‘…one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all…’ (emended by President Eisenhower in 1954 to include God).

 

 

On (the Mystery of) Human Life

 

Of course, this part of the quote assumes that human life is somehow a mystery. A mystery is something that is hidden. Before Jesus, the very Revelation of God, came to this earth human life was indeed a mystery. Why are we here? Where are we going? Why all this pain and suffering? Why death? Why whatever? But now, knowing precisely who God is, His attributes, His person, and as concerns us here His purposes for humankind—life eternal in His presence through the Savior Jesus—it remains a mystery only to the Godless, who in exercise of their will by way of their rights refuse God’s Salvation through His Messiah Jesus. A Godless one is not going to understand what was just said even though it is as clear as it can be, because they walk in the darkness, they prefer the darkness, they are in, and shall be granted, plenty of it. Sadly, the author’s words here likely betray a Godless walk, clearly it is all just a mystery to him (and to too many of his colleagues). As he says himself, and rules per his seat, he has that right, that is, to be mystified if he so chooses, and indeed he has that right, no red lines crossed here. In fact, that is the constant challenge of Christian ministry, to bring the Light of the Gospel to the blind and confused who insist on their right to remain blind and confused, to remain “mystified” by it all if you will; usually it is a smokescreen for beloved Sin, to persist in that conscience-free. Notice please what God says, the terror of it: ‘…Let them so be if they wish…’ (Isaiah 6:9-11, Jeremiah 5:21, Matthew 15:14, et al.). We have finally found a place where the author has it right, but woe a tragic triumph. Dearest author, Jesus Christ in Salvation takes the mystery out of human life in myriad ways (“ A Letter of Invitation”).
