On Which Side Of Jesus Hangeth Thee?

Bible Talk

(Luke 23:39-43)

Malefactors all, we, condemned to die, a horrific death (Matthew 13:47-50). Deservedly so (Romans 3:23, 6:23). Thus the sentence of death hangs over humankind. Nailed to a cross, either side of the only Savior, thus hangs humankind. On the one side railing and hubris, defiance before God to the bitter end, on the other wailing over Sin, new found humility, compliance to God to a better end. Question is, on which side hangeth thee dearest reader? Let’s talk about it.

Discussion

The malefactors’ sentence had been passed—death by crucifixion—a horrific death. And there was Jesus, crucified betwixt. Each knew of Jesus, His claims, the buzz all about near and far concerning Him; yes, each knew of Him, had heard aplenty. But clearly neither thought much about it, about Him, until that day. One last chance to know Him, to lean on Him, to be cleaned up and redeemed and born anew by Him, to be saved by Him, eternal life in the presence of very God. One last chance, even in the throes of death, my, even that late.

Question is, on which side hangeth thee dearest reader, for thou hast surely been sentenced? How cometh thee to Jesus the Savior, railing, or wailing? (Matthew 25:34, 41, 46, “A Letter of Invitation,” maybe one last chance for you before it is too late.)

Praised be your Name great Savior God. How good it is that we have you. Amen.
