Apostasy

The kiss of a friend,

set you up to be rent.

Still you gave him a cheek,

with a long teary streak.

How your heart ached and mourned,

when his eyes looked at your’n.

For in his gaze you perceived,

your loving trust so deceived.

And you knew he’d be lost,

at such a high, terrible cost.

Like many “friends” yet to come,

not intending the full race to run.

And so you poured yourself out,

never a complaint, never a shout.

So that even traitors, yea, phonies that turn,

through you a kingdom might yet earn.

Great and glorious is your Name great savior God; unfathomable are your ways, beyond understanding…
